We love everything that goes into great books. We love design, type, industry, invention, paper, inspiration, craftsmanship, and ideas. We also think bookstores should reflect the local culture. As a part of the culture of books and ideas, we love to contribute in interesting ways.
Traditionally we give broadsides away to as an end of year gift to warm the Winter nights. Our earliest examples were fine letterpress carefully designed in house and produced locally.
In a sentimental mood this fall, we have gone wild and invited special guests into our circle to view these and other literary wonders on our fourth floor.
On November 12, 2016 we will celebrate the broadside tradition by offering these treasures from years gone by as part of our inaugural Rare Book Salon. Join us in inviting Karen Clark to share with us the music of Hildagarde von Bingen in the Moe’s Books Rare Book Room at Noon.
And be warned that we plan to overwhelm you with poems, poets, and beauty. Come prepared and take home a few splendiferous trifles for a very few denaros.
On this day we will also unveil an enormous cache of poetry that we have been hoarding for years under the direction of our famed “poetry guy” Owen Hill. Come see what he has been hiding. And a special bonus to lovers of poetry, all used poetry will be discounted 20% for the duration of the party! (discount does not apply to trade).
