Child care providers, do you know about the Desired Results Development Profile (DRDP)? This is a quality improvement system created to ensure that children are receiving the care they need to thrive. Created by the California Department of Education, the DRDP provides guidelines for teachers to observe, document, and reflect on children’s early learning. With the use of this assessment system, providers have a better ability to support curriculum planning both for groups and for students’ individual development. The goals of the DRDP are to ensure children are personally and socially competent, are effective learners, have physical and motor competence, and are safe and healthy. The system also seeks to ensure that families support their child’s learning and development and achieve their personal goals. Make sure you know how to reach these desired results and use the DRDP effectively for the children in your care.
