Come hear Maija Peeples-Bright, one of the remaining living artists of the California Funk Art Movement, talk about her work and life as an artist. She started her career studying with Robert Arneson & William T. Wiley in the 60’s. In the 70’s and 80’s she showed routinely at the legendary Candy Store Gallery with Arneson, Roy De Forest, David Gilhooly and Peter VandenBerge, among others. Since then she’s created an outpouring of work featuring her signature colorful “beasties” and their wildly improbable worlds in a dedicated art practice that continues to this day. Mark your calendars and come meet Maija (Woof) Peeples-Bright. May 21, 2016 from 2-4 pm at Transmission Gallery in Oakland.
