August 06, 2016 at Rotary Nature Center and Lake Merritt Wildlife Refuge in Oakland.
By drawing plants we’ll come to better understand how they work, what their different parts do, and how to group them into families. We will discuss tips and techniques for quality drawings and some basic botanical knowledge. Through this fun process you will become a better artist, a better observer, and a better naturalist!
Bring any sketchbooks, pens, and pencils that you have. We will also have some basic supplies on hand to share. After practicing indoors, we will explore and draw some plants around the Nature Center.
Marley Peifer is an illustrator, gardener, and plant geek who loves drawing, learning, and sharing about plants.
Lake Merritt and the Rotary Nature Center are very accessible via public transportation and bicycling. If you drive and enter through the kiosk on Bellevue Ave, parking is $5 on the weekends and will be limited since Lake Merritt is a popular destination spot. If you’re driving, carpooling is encouraged!
This is a FREE event! $20 suggested donation.
