On this two hour nature hike you will learn about some of the plant alies that have called the San Francisco Bay Area their home for thousands of years. Learn uses and safe cultivation practices if aplicable. Learn the relationship that is inherit in plant cultivation and how to be a plant alie and how plants can be yours. They have story to tell and you will learn also how you might go about that. With profesional filmmaker Oliver Mellan you will learn how to see light and plants through the lens how to craft a story into film.
With your subject matter set and the tools at hand, you will be ready to tell elevated consciouness stories to serve a better world.
Your Native Plant Expert and Guide:
Kirra has been propagating wild and entheogenic plants for nearly 20 years and gardening alongside her elders since she was a small child. She is an expert in the indigenous flora of the San Francisco Bay Area and a sought-after instructor of plant identification, habitat restoration and endangered species recovery. Her teachings bridge science and mysticism, merging rigor and ethics with herbal wisdom and ancestral traditions.
Kirra completed her undergraduate studies in Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley (1998) and her graduate research in Restoration Ecology at the University of Washington (2003). Winner of the William Hammond Hall Award for Excellence in Horticulture and the Byron and the Alice Lockwood Endowed Graduate Fellowship, Kirra has worked for the National Park Service, San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, The Nature Conservancy, San Francisco State University and the University of Washington’s Center for Urban Horticulture. She is a member of the Society for Ecological Restoration, the Women’s Visionary Congress, Science and Nonduality (SAND) and theMultidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies.
Doctor Oliver Mellan:
San Francisco Filmmaker and Artist at large. Dr. Mellan is a current artist in residence at Merchants of Reality where he completed his feature Docunartive Radiation Filters, which he is now taking on tour. His work on Freaker USA has had him as a sought after expert in crowd funding videos. Deeply intune with the nautural world, his stories often call the audience to a greater cause, stepping away from traditional story lines and into areas of challenge and for that growth. He is a master of light and water.
