In the 1970s, Dr. Brilliant played a key role in the eradication of smallpox in India. He then co-founded the Seva Foundation with the mission to prevent and treat blindness in the developing world. He is the Founding Executive Director of Google.org and Chairman of The Skoll Global Threats Fund which tackles issues such as climate change and water security that, like smallpox before them, pose an existential danger to enormous swaths of humanity.
