In our time together, we will learn and practice simple principles of alignment in fundamental exercises/poses based on essentials of hatha yoga/functional movement biomechanics. Aligning with the sacred energy flow of the body is the simplest way to tap into your pranic vitality and return to the natural alignment that is your true nature. This training will give you options to refine your practice and teachings so that they become even more sustainable regardless of your lineage or dedicated asana style. These functional fundamentals are prehabilitative exercises that aim to prevent injuries before they can occur by bringing the body into its natural state of balance. Our time together will include areas most prone to injury in modern active yoga styles: the wrist, lumbar and cervical spine, and hips/knees! Sustainable Vinyasa Yoga creates a good understanding, body awareness, and integration between movement therapeutics and active styles of movement and yoga.
Susi Hately Aldous’ book – Anatomy & Asana – Preventing Yoga Injury is a highly recommended book for this portion of the training.
