March 11, 2016 at Incline Gallery in San Francisco.
Incline Gallery is excited to announce, Why be a king when you could be a god? a solo exhibition by San Francisco artist John Baunach…. Like many SF Muni patrons, Baunach rides with headphones, listening, but always watching–the curious, the uncomfortable, the scary, the routine. Inspired constantly by the dualities of ideas that the collection of figures on the bus provokes, Baunach uses his time to collect, think, envision. The bus, windows, and people in it became a launching point for the work in this collection as Baunach began to think about the ambitions, talents, aspirations (and faith) held inside his fellow riders. He began to deconstruct and draw a critical focus to what it means to be reigning or worshiping, outstanding, or just plain ordinary. Sharpening his perception and perspective on where the lines between ordinary and extraordinary converge and play with one another, the colors and forms found in his work began to follow suit.
Please join us for the Opening Reception on March 11, 2016 from 6-9pm. Exhibition runs from March 11 – March 25, 2016.
