The Yuthok Nyingthig or ‘Heart Essence of Yuthok’ is a complete cycle of Vajrayana Buddhist practice created by Yuthok Yönten Gönpo, the father of Tibetan Medicine. Practiced by doctors and healers as well as spiritual practitioners from all lineages, it forms the unique spiritual component of the Tibetan medical tradition.
The Yuthok Nyingthig contains special long-life practices that eliminate and prevent illness, lengthen the lifespan of the practitioner, and bring all levels of spiritual accomplishment. As the great master Guru Rinpoche said: “Of all activities, the first should be long life practice. If life is long, it can be virtuous, and the purpose of this life and the next can be achieved.”
On Thursday, July 14, Dr. Nida will offer all empowerments, transmissions, and detailed teachings necessary to engage in the long-life practices of the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition. At the end of this auspicious day we will offer a ganapuja feast, a shared practice of the mindful enjoyment of the sense pleasures.
On Friday, July 15, Dr. Nida will lead a one-day retreat in the long-life practices of the Yuthok Nyingthig.
Thursday, July 14 is the most powerful and auspicious Guru Rinpoche day in the entire 12-year cycle of the Tibetan calendar — the 10th lunar day of the Monkey month of the Fire Monkey year. It is said that on this day, Guru Rinpoche himself comes to offer his blessing.
Dr. Nida’s July programs serve as the kickoff to the Foundations of Sowa Rigpa training program, offered by Sorig Khang Bay Area in partnership with Sorig Khang International under the guidance of Dr. Nida Chenagtsang. Starting in the fall of 2016, this two-year, 300-hour program will offer an in-depth study of the fundamentals of Tibetan medical theory, diagnosis, and treatment along with comprehensive practical training in the herbal and external healing therapies of this profound medical system.
Dr Nida Chenagtsang is an internationally renowned master of Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan Medicine) and holder of the Yuthok Nyingthig lineage. As Co-Founder and Medical Director of Sorig Khang International (formerly the International Academy for Traditional Tibetan Medicine), he trains students in Sowa Rigpa and the Yuthok Nyingthig spiritual lineage in over 40 countries around the world.
