Buddhist dharma teacher Wendy Johnson is a co-founder of the Organic Farm and Garden Program at Green Gulch, a monastery and farm of the San Francisco Zen Center, where she has trained for over forty years. She is an ordained lay teacher in two Zen Buddhist lineages, including the traditions of Vietnamese poet, peacemaker, and globally recognized teacher Thich Nhat Hanh and San Francisco Zen Center, among the largest Buddhist communities outside of Asia. She is the author of Gardening at the Dragon’s Gate: At Work in the Wild and Cultivated World (Bantam, 2008). She is a garden mentor to the internationally celebrated Edible Schoolyard program and a College of Marin instructor in the Environmental Landscape program for the Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden project. “Every paradise garden I know is rooted in real work and real bounty.
